Tes-sel-la-tion

the big HOO-HA about??

I am a big fan of patterns and abstract designs as I believe that these patterns are what catches the viewers eyes easily. Patterns are often around us to the point where many people take it for granted (their existence)   that they don't appreciate its value anymore but, did you know that patterns are more than just that?? A simple pattern can be fit perfectly together like 'doin the math' that it doesn't make it JUST a pattern anymore, in fact this takes patterns and math to a whole new level, that is = TESSELLATION  Before I disclose more about this new project, I just want to stress how I really love patterns because I believe that for everyone, there is a special pattern FOR each person and in a way it will be theirs alone or rather the patterns they select represent/portray their characteristics through the images, colors & alignment of patterns. There is a wide variety of patterns that its never ending and it will never get boring once the designer knows how to manipulate them to catch the audience's eye. In other words, for a pattern that one viewer doesn't like, there will be another viewer out there who will appreciate that particular pattern.

HOW BOUT SOME SUGAR, LOV€??

For this project, we are required to incorporate GESTALT PRINCIPLES into our tessellation, and to be honest, it can prove to be challenging at some point. You see Tessellation techniques have a few characteristics that make it unique. If you noticed, tessellations do not have GAPS, OVERLAPS and are SYMMETRICAL. Some have the sense of DYNAMIC/STATIC principles. Although, after doing this project, I realized that even though we were required to individualise the Gestalt Principles into our tessellations, I realize that we can’t do that all the way, because a good tessellation would require a combination of the GP in order to make it look more creative and interesting.

So, Here's My Version of Tessellations Based Upon Gestalt Principles....

A) Figure & Ground
Object : Insects

B) CLOSURE
Object : Lemon Slices

C) ALIGNMENT
Object: People

D) PROXIMITY
Object : Shoes

E) SIMILARITY
Object : ROUGH (based on senses)
- Diamonds

F) CONTINUITY
Object : Elevator
